Howlite is an opaque white stone with black veins running through it. It is made up of calcium borosilicate hydroxide, a mineral calcite. It was discovered in Nova Scotia in 1868 by Henry Low who was a well-known geologist and chemist.
Howlite is best known for its calming properties and ability to induce stress-free states of consciousness. It is a great stone to calm an over-active mind and a great stone to help with sleep issues. Howlite is said to also help balance the body's calcium levels and to strengthen bones and teeth.
It is also said that Howlite activates your crown chakra, bringing Angelic healing for the emotions and mind. A small-tumbled piece of Howlite placed on the third eye can awaken memories of previous times and lifetimes. *
