Reiki is a Japanese method of vibrational energy healing. The ability to channel Reiki is passed on from teacher to student through an attunement process. Reiki can be used to balance, harmonize, or heal yourself, others, pets, our environment, and more. It can also be used to clear, restore or increase energy, create sacred space, and encourage us on our path of enlightenment. Each of the three Reiki certification levels offered in this series have specific capabilities and benefits and will touch on Japanese Reiki principles and Usui methods of healing. You will learn how to use Reiki in your everyday life and how to blend and incorporate other healing modalities with Reiki. These 2-day weekend certification workshops can be taken together or separately at your own pace. It is your decision, your journey.

Reiki Level I / Shoden (show-den):  The Beginning

During this two-day weekend experiential you will discover what Reiki is, the history of Reiki, Reiki principles, learn Japanese breathwork, meditation, the art of being fully present, and more to develop your Reiki foundation. This workshop will culminate in the activation of your healing channel through an attunement and will include learning self- and chair-healing hand positions and calming techniques.

Instructors:  Kelly Halverson and Monica Latus, as mentored by Sheri Bauer, RRMT
Kelly and Monica each have 10 years of Reiki and holistic healing experience. In addition to their commitment to Reiki and their further enlightenment through teaching, both are certified in Japanese Reiki and Crystal Reiki. Collectively, they have studied a wide range of healing modalities, including herbal medicine, aromatherapy, crystal healing, crystal reflexology, chakra healing, mind/body medicine, acupressure, and sound healing.

Reiki Level I Class Description

*****************************************

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2022:

Welcome - Group Meditation and Centering
Introductions will be followed by a group meditation, and everyone will have the opportunity to select an oracle card. This process opens our energetic connection to the universal energy that surrounds and unites us, allowing our energy to flow freely and awaken the gateway to enlightened knowledge and guidance.

Introduction to Reiki
Learn what Reiki is along with its many uses and benefits for one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self, as well as for pets, plants, the environment, relationships, disasters, and planetary healing.   Students will learn how to channel the energy of Reiki and how it can be incorporated into our everyday lives to help us maintain balance, harmony, and enrich our path to enlightenment.  The three levels of Reiki will also be covered.

The History of Reiki
This class will cover both the Western version of Reiki as well as the well-guarded Japanese version that has been revealed through time.  Students will learn about the Reiki founder, Mikao Usui, his quest for enlightenment, his “shyu gyo” or strict spiritual meditation that led to what we now know to be an attunement to channel the energy of Reiki, and his ability to access its healing energy. Students will also learn about the original Reiki masters, how Reiki came to the West, and how and why Reiki teachings and practices differ.

The Reiki Ideals
Mikao Usui developed Reiki principles to provide us with guidance and comfort as we embark on our Reiki journey and path to enlightenment. The Reiki Ideals or Gokai consist of five principles and will be taught in Japanese along with the English translation. Continued verbal repetition and practice of these principles helps to support and provide us with a fulfilled life.

Introduction to Japanese Reiki
‘Traditional’ Reiki as taught and practiced in Japan differs from the Westernized version of Reiki. The differences are due to the guarded or secretive nature of Reiki in Japan, lack of written materials, and the complexity of the Japanese language, as much is lost in translation. While this is true, we will cover, to the best of our knowledge, the art of Japanese Reiki as passed down from our teachers.

Sacred Reiki Breathwork and Meditation Practices Level I
The regular practice of breathwork and meditation not only positively impacts our central nervous system and health; it enhances our intuition and encourages spiritual growth. A focused state allows us to be fully present and open to our intuition which greatly benefits our sensing skills during a Reiki treatment. Several methods of meditation and breathwork will be covered, including the practice of Joshin Kokyu-Ho to strengthen your connection with Reiki.

Blending Aromatherapy into your Reiki Practice Level I
Essential oils have the highest vibrational frequencies of any natural substance and can be used to personalize and enhance the healing benefits of your Reiki sessions. Both address the ‘whole’ person on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels, affect the biochemistry of our cells, and increase our vibrational frequency, making them an effective, complementary pairing. Discover effective ways you can blend aromatherapy into your Reiki practice.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2022:

Grounding and Protection Techniques and Hands-on Practice
As a Reiki practitioner, you are effectively vibrating at a different frequency, and it is important to be and stay grounded. Grounding, or the practice of rooting yourself into the Earth’s core, gives Reiki practitioners peace and power before beginning a session. It is also important to protect or seal-in our energy to maintain our vibrational frequency. Students will learn and practice grounding and protection techniques.

Sacred Anointment and Attunement Ceremony Preparation
An attunement is what makes Reiki unique from other forms of healing touch and energy work. The ability to channel Reiki is passed on from teacher to student through this sacred anointment and attunement ceremony. Become familiar with what a Reiki attunement is, what to expect during the Level I attunement, what to expect after an attunement, the 21-day clearing cycle, and ways to assist with the clearing process.

Sacred Reiki Attunement Level I
The Level I Sacred Reiki attunement will pass the ability to channel Reiki from a Reiki Master teacher to student. The attunement ceremony will be preceded by an auric field smudging of all participants and student participation in a candle lighting and Reiki infused attunement water ceremony.

Reiki Self-Treatment Experiential
Following the Reiki Level I attunement, you can practice Reiki on yourself, family, pets and friends. The focus should be on self-healing to build a strong foundation, but you can practice on family, pets, and friends to explore what it is like to work in other energetic fields and to gain feedback. We will practice how to prepare for a session, connect with the energy of Reiki, explore Reiki energy sensations, learn and practice basic hand positions for self-treatment and for treating family, pets, and friends at this Level, and how to appropriately end a session.
