In many parts of the world, Green Amethyst is considered a sacred stone. In its natural form, Its beautiful color forms usually because of the lower levels of chromium in the quartz and the trace amounts of iron and copper. The layers of natural green quartz are made entirely from what science calls "Imperial Jasper" found in the Imperial Valley, thus its namesake. The Imperial Valley is located in Southern California and extends into Mexico.
There is also a heat-treated from of amethyst known as Prasiolite which is a more common form, usually found abundantly in tumbled form. Green amethyst, whether natural or heat-treated, serves as a superb meditation stone that bridges the higher chakras and aligns the body, mind and spirit into an integrated whole. Green Amethyst activates the heart chakra, putting the heart in the lead position of directing your thoughts and actions. Prasiolite is connected to the Arch Angel of Healing, Raphael.
