Pyrite is a sparkling stone. Its name comes from the Greek language and is translated as "firestone" because if was believed to contain fire in its core.
Pyrite has colors of bright, shiny silver or gold. The gold color in pyrite is named Chalcopyrite because of its high content of copper iron sulfide. When Chalcopyrite is exposed to acid, it becomes Peacock Ore, producing hues of deep purple, blue, violet, and yellow.
Pyrite is also known as 'Fools’ Gold', because many of the early miners thought it was real Gold at first glance. The difference between Gold and Pyrite can be distinguished by its shape. Real gold is irregular in shape and pyrite has a distinct cubic form that grows on a matrix.
Pyrite is know as a stone of protection, prosperity, power, and magic. It also serves as an energy shield that deflects and destroys invading forms of energy and pollutants. Pyrite also forms a strong energy shield in the aura, protecting the physical body and aura from any harm. Pyrite is very fast acting and helpful for getting to the root of karmic and psychosomatic disease.
