Did you know that Peanut Wood is actually a form of ancient driftwood? This unusual, fossilized wood formed when conifer trees fell into water and were carried to a salty sea. Clams living in these salty waters found the wood and began to eat it, leaving holes in the wood. Tiny, shelled plankton also lived in these same waters. The shells of these plankton dissolved in the water at the end of their lifecycle. Over time, the minerals from the dissolved shells filled the clam holes in the wood, leaving a milky white shape that looks like a peanut. Thus, this fossilized wood became known as Peanut Wood.
Garnered through its transformation, Peanut Wood contains and imparts the energy to help with our own transformations and changes as we evolve through our lives. The bold, creamy white markings on a background of dark brown help us to remember that even in times of darkness, the light shines forth.
Having formed from trees that are rooted in the Earth, Peanut Wood is filled with Earth energy, conveying a soothing, healing effect, helping us to remain grounded especially in times of turmoil. Through its watery metamorphosis, it also carries the energy of water. Water energy is cleansing, clearing away the old so that we may transform into who we are to become.
