"Quiet the Mind and the Soul will Speak" ~Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati

This Meditation series is an opportunity to deepen your connection, relax, rejuvenate, and release what no longer serves you.

The Basics of Meditation

In this course students will learn the basics of meditation. A brief historical overview will be given and an understanding of how meditation plays an important role in our modern-day life will be discussed. Students will receive an overview on the mental, emotional and physical benefits of meditation and the 4 types of brain waves. They will learn how to sit, where to put their hands and what to think, or not think. They will learn about the different styles and techniques of meditation and the importance of journaling. Students will participate in 2 short guided meditations and will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences with the class.

Using Sound to Deepen the Meditative State

Sound meditation is a form of focused awareness. Throughout the ages sound has been used to help monks, shamans, and the ancient Aborigines achieve deeper states of consciousness. In this class students will discover the basics of sound, the different types of sound available, and how to use sound with meditation. Several instruments will be available for students to explore. Students will be guided on a meditation utilizing sound to help them relax and calm their active monkey mind. Students will have time to ask questions and share their experiences with the class, if they choose.

Using Guided Imagery in Meditation

Meditation through guided imagery is a form of focused relaxation that helps create harmony between the mind and body. It provides a powerful psychological strategy that enhances a person’s coping skills through all 5 senses to ignite positive healing. In this class students will explore what it means to use guided imagery and how it can benefit their health and meditation practice. Students will be led on a guided journey that will utilize all their senses to build images and experiences in the mind. Students will have time to ask questions and share their experiences with the class, if they choose.

How to Incorporate Breathwork in Meditation

Breathing is the most basic form of life and in today’s busy society it can be easy to forget how to slow down and breathe. In this course students will learn about the importance of mindful, focused breath. They will understand different breathing techniques and how to incorporate them in their meditation practice. Students will participate in a group meditation where they will have the chance to incorporate breathwork into their practice. Students will have time to ask questions and share their experiences with the class, if they choose.

About your Meditation Guide, Laurel Ziemienski

Laurel’s lifelong journey to bring light to the unhealed portions of her soul began at a young age, before she even knew it. She has been intuitive most of her life, hearing “voices” that didn’t seem to exist, having that deep internal “knowing” that baffled family & friends, and a desire to want to help those in need. Her insights were so profound that she committed to helping others walk their own journey to self realization. She is a daily meditator, harnessing the power of the present moment to maintain joy and balance in her daily life. Through her trainings in Sound Healing, Shamanism, Reiki & Acupressure, Laurel has multiple tools at her disposal to help you work through unresolved issues and achieve a peaceful state in the present moment. Laurel is currently enrolled at the Edison Institute of Nutrition and is working towards her Diploma in Holistic Nutrition. She teaches classes in guided meditation and is an educator at the School of Sound and Healing at Angel Light in Elm Grove, Wisconsin. She also performs sound baths monthly for a meditation series.
